Real Exam Task 2 Topic (September 2025)
Understanding the IELTS Writing Task 2
The natural resources such as oil, forest and fresh water are being consumed at an alarming rate. What problems does it cause? How can we solve these problems?
Excessive consumption of natural resources including fresh water, oil and forests has become a serious concern in today’s world. This overexploitation is causing environmental degradation and social challenges for the people. However, government regulation combined with awareness about mindful usage can help mitigate the issue, at least to an extent.
The overuse of natural resources leads to a wide range of problems. In terms of environment, deforestation and over extraction of oil contribute to climate change and pollution. Similarly, the overuse of freshwater causes rivers and lakes to dry up, threatening entire ecosystems. Moreover, these environmental issues are closely linked to social challenges, as the scarcity of resources triggers conflicts over access. Geopolitical tensions among various countries over oil reserves and water conflict among various Indian states illustrate how the depletion of essential resources could create unrest in the society.
Nevertheless, this issue can be addressed through governmental intervention and formulation of stringent policies. By monitoring consumption and penalizing pollution, authorities will be able to control the wastage of essential resources. In an Indian city, car washing has been banned by the state government in an effort to conserve water. In addition, society must be encouraged to adopt sustainable practices. Raising awareness about reducing, reusing and recycling is crucial to ensure that the people are well informed and make conscious effort for protecting the planet. Schools in India frequently organize drills and campaigns so that students and parents learn to recycle and participate in conservation practices.
To conclude, reckless resource consumption is leading to environmental degradation, further resulting in societal consequences. In order to tackle these issues, strong policy measures and widespread awareness is required so that the Earth stays habitable for future generations.
