Recent IELTS Writing Task 2: Should Schools Teach Fashion? | Band 7+ Model Answer
In the modern society, fashion has become an extremely influential part in the lives of people across most of the age brackets. That is why, it is often contemplated that fashion should be introduced as a subject in schools. I strongly support this thought because it would enhance overall personality of students and prepare them for diverse global opportunities.
Undoubtedly, if incorporated into the school curriculum, knowledge of fashion would create an awareness about the latest trends being followed in society. Since looks and fashion sense hold great importance these days, making students aware about these trends could help shape their personality positively. This learning may help students understand how appearance can influence first impressions, particularly in professional contexts. A well-dressed candidate, for example, is often perceived as more confident raising their chances of success in a job interview. This may ultimately benefit them in various professional situations, such as career growth and workplace interactions.
Moreover, there are plethora of career options available across the world in the field of fashion. As a subject, this would prepare young adults for global opportunities in various sectors, such as apparels, jewelry, accessories, make-up, shoes and so on. Since the ultimate goal of pursuing any academic subject is to have a secure and financially-stable future, fashion may also cater the same purpose for many fashion industry aspirants.
In conclusion, fashion is an important aspect of life, so it should be taught as a formal subject in schools. This would help students develop a sense of personal grooming, social awareness, and open doors to professional opportunities.
